Get Involved and How to Help
Become a Member
A great big THANK YOU to supporters of the Refuge! Members receive a monthly newsletter detailing highlights and upcoming events at the Refuge, along with priority sign up and a discount for the extremely popular Summer Ecology Program. Due to the ever-increasing population of Long Island, places like the Refuge grow more important. You will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping this unique wildlife preserve.
Adopt an Animal
Do you have a favorite animal in our Distressed Wildlife Complex? Have you ever wished you could do something special for them? This Refuge fundraiser allows you to adopt your favorite animal, and help to provide the best care possible here at the Refuge. Your assistance will allow the refuge staff to:
- Enhance your animal’s dwelling space
- Provide the best possible diet
- Assist in paying for veterinary procedures and preventative treatments
- Enhance and expand our educational programs
The Quogue Wildlife Refuge is looking for friendly and interested individuals
to fill a variety of volunteer positions. Let us know if these interest you:
Trail Maintenance Leader – Organize trail-trimming groups and help maintain part of the seven miles of trails at the refuge.
Volunteer Educator – Lead school groups for tours of the refuge. Lead scout groups for badge work.
Nature Center Attendant – Spend a leisurely afternoon or weekend day meeting and greeting visitors inside of the Nature Center. Answer questions about the animals, inform visitors of upcoming programs, membership and Adopt an Animal opportunities. Answer phones as needed.
Animal Care Assistant – Assist staff with care and feeding of animals and cage work as needed. No specific experience necessary. Receive onsite training for the volunteer position of your choice, set up a schedule, and enjoy your time here at the refuge.
We gratefully welcome all kinds of donations. In addition to a cash donation or an item on our wish list, you may want to consider the gift of appreciated securities, or other types of charitable gifts with varying tax advantages.
