Dear Quogue Wildlife Refuge Members and Friends,
We have been monitoring the Covid-19 virus updates and recommendations closely through the CDC website. The health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and the community is of utmost important to us.
The Nature Center will be closed to the public until further notice. Masks must be worn when unable to properly social distance. It is required that you have a mask on your person at all times.
We recognize the importance of fresh air and exercise for everyone’s mental health and well-being, especially now. Currently we are still able to keep the trails open for everyone. In order to maintain the healthiest atmosphere, and to support social distancing and prevent the possible spread of COVID-19, trail options are now limited and must be walked Counter Clockwise, so that everyone is walking in the same direction.
Just like you, we are doing our best to manage during these unprecedented times. Please feel free to email or message us on Facebook to let us know how you are doing – we’d love to hear from you.
We would like to remind visitors that there are No Dogs Allowed on the Refuge property. Their presence is distressing to the animals in our outdoor wildlife complex, and to the ducks and geese that call the Refuge home.
We are wishing all of you good health and hope you find ways to enjoy daily simple pleasures! Thank you!
If you have any questions, call our office at 631-653-4771.
We will continue to post updates on our website about Refuge programs and Nature center hours.
Be well & stay safe,
Michael J Nelson
