CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE BAT!
The United Nations has declared 2011-2012 International Year of the Bat, and QWR is proud to partner with Bat Convservation International (BCI) in supporting in cause! The Year of the Bat is a two yearlong global species awareness initiative undertaken by The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and The Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS). Bats play an essential role in helping to maintain a healthy ecosystem, are are found nearly everywhere with approximately 1,200 species accounting for almost a quarter of all mammals. However, in recent decades, bat populations have declined alarmingly. Many are now endangered, though they provide invaluable services that we cannot afford to lose.
