Summer Ecology Program

Information

For children entering grades 2nd – 6th. Grade level is the grade that your child will be entering in fall of 2025.

Each day of this program will be an immersive adventure into the Refuge’s incredible biodiversity. Campers will explore unique spots like Chocolate Pudding Pond, the magic of Fairy Dell, and the secret Mud Trail. On Thursday, we’ll head to Dune Road for an exciting seining experience on Shinnecock Bay! The program runs Monday through Friday, from 9am to 12pm. Please note that parents are responsible for transporting children to and from Dune Road on Thursday.

Thursday is beach day on Dune Rd (~10 minutes from the Refuge), parents must drop-off and pick-up at beach. Exact location will be provided after registration.

Members $325 | Non-Members $350

Due to program popularity, please only register for one session per child / per summer.

A separate payment & application are necessary for each child.

Schedule & Other Details

When: Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM* (*unless otherwise noted on schedule).

Where: Quogue Wildlife Refuge (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri) and Dune Rd, Quogue (Thursday).

Dress: Always dress your child for the weather and apply sunscreen and any insect repellant at home prior to camp. Closed toed shoes, especially old sneakers, are the best footwear. Flip-flops or sandals are not permitted. Old clothes that can get wet and dirty are best to wear daily.

What to bring: An individual snack and drink in a small labelled lunch box. Please pack snacks and drink in reusable containers to eliminate non-recyclable waste. No peanut product please. Please do not pack a large bag or change of shoes/clothes.

Topics of Education: Explore, Discover, Learn! Dive into the wonders of Long Island’s wild side! Explore the mysterious Pine Barrens, uncover the secrets of freshwater ecosystems, and meet the incredible live native animals that we care for at the Refuge. Wade into the vibrant saltwater bays, and discover hands-on ways to protect and preserve our local environment

Refund Policy: A 50% refund will be granted if cancellations are received at least 30 days prior to the start of the camp session. There will be NO refund if the cancellation occurs within 30 days of the first day of the session, therefore please choose your sessions carefully and mark them in your calendar. Cancellation requests must be made by email to: Programs@QuogueWildlifeRefuge.org *(Strictly enforced)* Switching camp weeks (if available) will be subject to an additional $50 processing fee per application.

Visit

The Refuge trails and Outdoor Wildlife Complex are open every day from sunrise to sunset free of charge. Dogs and bicycles are not permitted on the Refuge grounds.
