Can I make a donation through a Qualified Charitable Distribution from my IRA?

Supporting Quogue Wildlife Refuge through Your IRA will create a lasting difference!

Here are the details:

  • You must be 70½ or older.*
  • Your contribution must be sent directly from your IRA account to Quogue Wildlife Refuge.
  • Since your gift is a transfer of funds from your IRA, it won’t provide a charitable deduction but also won’t count as taxable income for you.
  • You can transfer up to $100,000 per year (individual) or $200,000 per year (married couple).
  • If you’re required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, your gift can count toward your RMD (applicable to those aged 73 or older). However, your gift isn’t limited to your RMD amount.
  • If using a checkbook issued by your IRA administrator, send your gift as early as possible to ensure it qualifies as a distribution for the current year.
