An Evening with Chenae Bullock: Connecting with Indigenous Plants

Join us for an enriching community workshop led by Chenae Bullock, a knowledgeable and passionate Licensed Indigenopathic Practitioner from the Shinnecock Nation. This workshop will immerse participants in the rich traditions of indigenous plant medicine, focusing on the unique flora native to our region. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with several Indigenous plants which have long been valued for their medicinal properties and cultural significance, including Cedar, White Pine, Sassafras, Mullein, and Sweetgrass. Participants will not only learn about their uses but also partake in hands-on activities that involve preparing and utilizing these plant medicines in practical, meaningful ways. Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of indigenous healing practices, cultivate skills in plant medicine, or connect with the natural world, this workshop promises to be an inspiring and educational experience. $25 per person. 

Refund Policy: Program tickets are non-refundable unless we, Quogue Wildlife Refuge, cancel the program due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If you decide to cancel, your class fee will be donated to support our mission driven work at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.

About Chenae:

Chenae Bullock, LPIM, is a citizen of the Shinnecock Nation, representing the first contact tribe of Long Island and a living descendant of the Montauk people. Chenae has garnered national recognition through her impactful appearances at prestigious platforms such as SXSW, Forbes, Rolling Stone, TEDx, Tribal Business News, Bloomberg, Condé Nast Traveler, Indian Country Today, and Yahoo Finance.As the founder and CEO of Moskehtu Consulting, a firm dedicated to cultural and heritage preservation, Chenae stands as a beacon of resilience, embodying the legacy of her ancestors—who were whalers and leaders along the northeastern seaboard. Her work is deeply rooted in the resurgence of traditional canoe culture and the societal customs of Indigenous communities on Long Island. She has expertly organized sacred paddles through the ancient waterways of the region, navigating routes from Shinnecock to Mashantucket Pequot and paddling across the Long Island Sound multiple times, including a significant journey from Boston to New York City. Chenae is a licensed Indigenopathic practitioner, committed to enhancing Indigenous healthcare and educating communities on ancient wellness practices. She serves as a bridge for cultural understanding, integrating traditional wisdom into sustainability frameworks across various partnerships. Chenae has published numerous articles focusing on environmental sustainability and the cultural intelligence of Indigenous peoples Her advocacy extends to the vital issues of clean water and environmental stewardship. Chenae leads global water ceremonies and gatherings in New York City, addressing the pressing epidemic of beached whales along Long Island’s shores. Additionally, she plays a crucial role in the Indigenous Advisory Council for the Shinnecock Bay, a globally recognized body of water that has seen successful restoration efforts over the past decade. Chenae Bullock’s mission is to illuminate the perspectives and understanding of Indigenous peoples through cultural competency in government and environmental sectors, fostering brand partnerships and a profound connection to humanity—what she values most.
